Darianne Hudson, a member of the West Louisville Girls Choir, will appear in Stage One’s “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” Darianne is in the 10th grade at Ballard High School.

Elon Stiner, a soprano in the West Louisville Girls Choir has been cast in the Kentucky Opera’s production of Hansel and Gretel. She will perform November 20, 2009 Friday night, 8:00 p.m.  at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.   Sunday afternoon’s performance will be  2:00 p.m. November 22, 2009 at the W. L. Lyons Brown Theatre.

Adrienne Bluitt, second soprano in the West Louisville Girls Choir, will attend the Summer Law Institute in the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Lousville.

The Law Institute, June 15-20, 2009,  is sponsosred by the Louisville Bar Association.  The closing exercise will be centered around a mock trial where the students act as attorneys and witnesses.  The trial will be presided over by  local judges.

The mock trial and closing ceremony will be held Saturday June 20, 2009 in the Allen Courtroom of the Brandeis School of Law.  Family and friends are invited.

West Louisville Girls Choir member, Darianne Hudson, 8th grader at Meyzeek Middle School,  received both the “Silver Key Award” and an “Honorable Mention Award” in the 2009 Scholastic Art Contest.

West Louisville Girls Choir member, Sydonia Kinderman, 3rd grader at Dann C. Byck Elementary School, auditioned for the production of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!”

Douglas Kelly, alto in the West Louisville Boys Choir , was cast in the National City Touring Company’s production of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” which will be performed at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Whitney Hall.

Former West Louisville Boys Choir Members, Keymon and Kaymon Murrah, have auditioned, been accepted, and will attend the University of Kentucky School of Music.

Kellee Knox has auditioned, been accepted and will attend the University of Louisville School of Music.

Joseph Bowens will attend the University of Louisville in the Fall of 2009.

Virgil Clay will attend the University of Louisville in the Fall of 2009.

The WLPAA will be honoring the distinguished educator and president of the Univerisity of Louisville, Dr. James Ramsey.  The University of Louisville is the academic arm/partner to the West Louisville Performing Arts Academy.  Any student who is a member of the West Louisville Boys or West Louisville Girls Choirs upon graduation from high school is eligible to receive a scholarship to the University of Louisville.
Both the West Louisville Boys & West Louisville Girls Choirs will perform.

Kellee Knox, member of the West Louisville Girls Choir, was accepted into the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts in 2008.

Kellee also performed in “The Wiz” at the Iroquois Amphitheater over the summer. Visit the Broadway at Iroquois website for more information.

Past choir members who attended the Governor’s School are Kaymon and Keymon Murrah.

Micah McCain and Michael Brown auditioned and were accepted into the Youth Performing Arts Academy (YPAS) for 2009.

Past members who attended YPAS are Keymon Murrah, Kaymon Murrah, Troy Burton, Virgil Clay, Cormac Parker, Jaron Miller, Kellee Knox, Taylor Swanson, Kellee Knox, Jayla Beeler and Shelby Lockhart.

The Choirs recently completed a successful performance at the WHAS Crusade for Children.

A board meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2008 at 6:00 pm at the Fund for the Arts Offices, 623 West Main Street.
